【摘要】:Augerboringsoftenprovidethesimplestmethodofsoilinvestigationandsampling.Theymaybeusedforanypurposewheredisturbedsamplescanbeusedandarevaluableinconnectionwithgroundwaterleveldeterminationandindicationofchangesinstrataandadvancementofholeforspoonandtubesampling.Equipmentrequiredissimpleandreadilyavailable.Depthsofaugerinvestigationsare,however,limitedbygroundwaterconditions,soilcharacteristics,andtheequipmentused.1.1Thispracticecoversequipmentandproceduresfortheuseofearthaugersinshallowgeotechnicalexploration.Thispracticedoesnotapplytosectionalcontinuousflightaugers.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIvaluesgiveninparenthesesareprovidedforinformationalpurposesonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.3Thispracticeoffersasetofinstructionsforperformingoneormorespecificoperations.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthispracticemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject'smanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconcensusprocess.
