【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoverstheprocedureandacceptancestandardsforstraightbeam,pulseecho,ultrasonicexaminationofrolledstructuralshapeshavingaminimumsectionthicknessof1/2in.[12.5mm].Itwasdevelopedtoensuredeliveryofsteelstructuralshapesfreeofgrossinternaldiscontinuitiessuchaspipe,ruptures,orlaminationsandistobeusedwhenevertheinquiry,contract,order,orspecificationstatesthattheshapesaretobeultrasonicallyexamined.Twolevelsofacceptancestandardsareincluded.LevelIIisintendedfornormalapplicationswherefreedomfromgrossinternaldiscontinuitiesisdesired,particularlyinconnectionregions.LevelIisintendedforcriticalapplicationssuchasweldedchordmembersusedintensionloading,whereinternaldiscontinuitiescouldbedetrimental.LevelIIisnormallyapplicableunlessotherwisespecifiedincontractdocumentsorthepurchaseorder.Supplementaryrequirementsforalternativescanningcoveragesareprovided.1.2Thevaluesstatedineitherinch-poundorSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Withinthetext,theSIunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnonconformancewiththespecification.
